New Year, New Guidance

New Year, New Guidance

I gave myself a beautiful gift this past fall. I took two full weeks off work to enjoy time with my husband exploring Japan. We live in Montreal, and this was my first exposure to Japan. The experience was incredible. Like so many solo-preneurs, I rarely clock out. There’s always a new client I can’t wait to meet, a course to write or a speech to prepare. But for these two weeks I committed solely to my relationship with my partner. Why? I listened. I sensed an opening for deepening our marriage on this trip, so I said “no” to lots of little to do’s and opportunities that I could have “balanced” during our vacation. I trusted my gut, I listened to inspired guidance, and you know what? Those two weeks were exactly what we needed as a couple, and what my business needed to grow into its next phase.

Inspiration comes in many forms, and I believe we can turn the spigot on wider and let even more flow in. How do we tap into this guidance? We can work with a coach, we can meditate, we can glean from the masters. I plan on doing more of all these things in 2018, because every time I try it, I’m rewarded without fail.

Though I’ve never met her in person, one of my favorite mentors is Mel Robbins. Mel’s known for her 5-second rule for changing your mood and your life, fast! She recently posted her team’s favorite reads, and I'm sharing them here. In their own way, each of these books helps us tap into greater self awareness and inner guidance. So far, I’ve read about half the books on this list, and in 2018 I’m committed to reading them all.

Happy New Year to you. May you achieve your resolutions with ease and grace. And if you decide to forgo them altogether, I trust that this next year will unfold for you in the way that serves you best with trusted new partnerships, beautiful collaborations and endless space for creating all that you desire. Here’s to embracing the guidance that’s here for you in every moment of every day.

XO Sara
